John "Richard" Woods January 20, 1945 - August 24, 2016John "Richard" Woods was born on January 20, 1945, in Boise, Idaho. After a brave fight with leukemia, he peacefully passed away on August 24, 2016, with his family by his side. Cremation is under the direction of the Cremation Society of Idaho. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Woodford and Alice Woods; a brother, Ronald Woods; and a grandson, Zachary Powers. He is survived by his loving life partner of 19 years, Gloria Carroll of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Kim Griffin and spouse, Billy Griffin, both of Boise, Idaho and Kelly Caufield and spouse, Benjamin Caufield, both of Nampa, Idaho; three loving grandchildren: Austin Holton of Boise, Idaho, Harrison Holton of Melba, Idaho and Madeline Griffin of Boise, Idaho; two step-children, Monique Carroll of Eugene, Oregon and Heather Carroll of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; a sister-in-law, Nancy Woods; and a niece, Heidi Barrell and spouse, Kirk Barrell, both of Boise, Idaho. Richard joined the Army in 1966 and attended a boot camp for six months and then was in the Army National Guard for approximately six years. He was an avid golfer of many years who enjoyed playing on the green with Gloria and a group his golf buddies. He loved a glass of wine on the 19th hole. Richard was also a huge Boise State fan who never missed a game. He sported his interest in BSU with a closet full of BSU clothing, a flag on his car and other cool accessories. In his earlier years, he absolutely loved camping and fishing with good friends and his family. He was an enthusiastic fisherman all the way. Richard was a dedicated employee who in the mid-sixties began his career with Albertsons, where he worked for many years. Following that, he went to work for M&W Grocery and then Pacific Fruit. He ended his career with J-Weil Food Services in Boise, Idaho, where he was for approximately 25 years. He was indeed a very conscientious worker and was recognized for all of his hard work. As a father, a life partner, a friend, a coworker and a grandpa, he will be dearly missed by many. However, we have many cherished memories that will live on in our hearts forever. A life celebration will be held at a later date.
